Number 4 (self-portrait with Mattias) is an intimate short film about the close bond between Maya (23) and Mattias (26), which slowly changes shape after Mattias suddenly loses his mother. While Mattias becomes increasingly entangled in his grieving process, Maya slowly realizes that his loss also means the loss of their familiar relationship.
Directed by Tessa Kortmulder, Nummer 4 (zelfportret met Mattias) leans on a strong ensemble — Bente Kruger, Toto van Stekelenburg, Carlo Paardenkoper — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
