Months after the disappearance of his father, Leonard, 11 years old, discovers a living entity in the compost at the back of the garden. He secretly forms a bond with this thing, which is soon discovered by his little sister. Both start to believe it’s their father. When their mother protests against this idea, Léonard begins to have doubts about her.
Directed by Jennifer Lumbroso, Compost leans on a strong ensemble — Roxane Mesquida, Raphael Brottier, Philaé de Charette — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 2026.
