Three carefree students set out on a summer road trip across the Flemish countryside in a battered old car, hoping for adventure, romance, and fun. Along the way, they encounter colorful local characters and a variety of regional dialects and customs. Their lighthearted journey takes an unexpected turn when they become entangled in a bizarre espionage chase involving a Russian atomic spy and an American counterintelligence agent. Mixing slapstick comedy, travel adventure, and Cold War parody, the film follows the young travelers through a series of absurd and chaotic summer escapades.
Directed by Hein Beniest, Zomercapriolen leans on a strong ensemble — Robert Borremans, Jos Van den Broeck, Erwin Van Snick — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
