NEW HAL&BONS

A theatrical version of the laid-back CG animated series HAL & BONS, which gained attention through its serialization in the DVD magazine Grasshoppa! beginning in 2001. Hal and Bons, a pair of dogs living on the planet Himadama, spend their days happily drinking beer and enjoying a carefree life. One day, a talking piece of mochi named Mochi-kun arrives to interview them and ends up staying as an unwanted houseguest, leading to a series of unusual events.

Directed by Katsuhito Ishii, Sadamune Takenaka, NEW HAL&BONS leans on a strong ensemble — Katsuhito Ishii, Ikki Todoroki, Shunichiro Miki — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about animation titles of 2006.
