










In rural postwar Lithuania, the Šatai and Kaminskai families live beside each other. A cow sold to the Kaminskai dies, creating enmity between the families. Andrius Šatas and Liuka Kaminskaitė grow up together and fall in love.
Directed by Arūnas Žebriūnas, Walnut Bread leans on a strong ensemble — Leonid Obolensky, Saulius Sipaitis, Doloresa Kazragytė — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1977.
