Inspired by the collaborative practice of composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham, composer Joan La Barbara and filmmaker Aleksandar Kostic created an event in which the film and music were conceived independently, allowing the two works to meet for the first time in performance.
Directed by Aleksandar Kostic, Persistence of Memory leans on a strong ensemble — Joan La Barbara — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about mystery titles of 2012.
