Gambus Rindu

The story tells of Mustakim who has not played the gambus since the death of his wife and child in an accident. Atikah and her friend come to meet with Mustakim to produce a documentary about the culture and heritage of the gambus instrument. Atikah's mother, Rashidah, accompanies her daughter in learning. In secret, Mustakim has feelings for Rashidah. Atikah, who has begun to like Mustakim, is disappointed and runs away when she discovers that the man she loves has chosen her mother instead.

Directed by Asri Baq'u Tajudin, Gambus Rindu leans on a strong ensemble — Rusdi Ramli, Dayang Areeda, Haleeda — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2022.
