Tapai Pulut Opah

The story tells of Alif who is forced to return to his village a week before Raya to look after his grandmother. Alif, who is already accustomed to city life, finds it difficult to live in the village when there is nothing special for him there. His boredom begins to change when he meets Zek, a village girl who works at a grocery store. He starts making video recordings to post on his social media.

Directed by Abu Baker Siddiq, Tapai Pulut Opah leans on a strong ensemble — Coki Debernardi, Mek Yun, Fadilah Mansor — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2022.
