About Jangan Malu Menangis
Ramlee, a former ship's sailor, lives alone in a village. His life is lonely despite having three children, filled with the haunting presence of his wife's spirit, Haryati. After a commotion occurs in the village, his eldest daughter, Maryam, returns home. The vision of his wife, Haryati, disappears after Maryam makes her father realize that their mother has passed away. Eventually, Ramlee agrees to follow Maryam to the capital to live with his children. However, his children's preoccupation with their respective careers makes Ramlee feel left out.
Directed by Amie Maziah, Jangan Malu Menangis leans on a strong ensemble — Rosyam Nor, Fauziah Latiff, Ozlynn Waty — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2022.
