Kisha Adra (Eyka Farhana) has just completed her studies and is waiting for a job offer. Adra has been forced by her stepmother Makcik Melur (Zila Bakarin) to marry Farhan (Azri Sabri). However, Adra refuses her stepmother's request because she is not yet ready. At the same time, Nazril (Aedy Ashraf) is forced to move to Langkawi for work. Nazril is a single father and he needs to find a nanny to take care of his child, Nufail (Maryam Annisa). Makcik Melur, who learns about the nanny position, continues to pressure Adra after hearing that the salary offered is quite good. Adra agrees when Makcik Melur promises that after working for a few months with Nazril, Adra can be free to work in Kuala Lumpur. Nazril and his child, Nufail, arrive in Langkawi and try to adjust to life there. An incident occurs where Nufail goes missing while Nazril is busy answering a phone call. By coincidence, Adra is there and she tries to comfort Nufail by hugging her.
Directed by Bahri Uma Bajuri, Bila Hati Memilih Dia leans on a strong ensemble — Aedy Ashraf, Eyka Farhana, Maryam Annisa — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2022.
