Camelia

It tells the story of a family in chaos due to children with temperamental behavior. In 1999, 3 siblings, Malik, Mariam and Marina live with their parents, Halim and Zainab, and their maternal grandmother, Tok Su. They are not a wealthy family, working on rented rice fields. Mariam has been under pressure since childhood because she is always looked down upon by her grandmother, Tok Su. Tok Su often favors her younger sister, Marina, who is said to be much more beautiful compared to her. Although her mother, father and adoptive brother, Malik, are on her side, Mariam remains oppressed. Marina's misdeeds also traumatize Mariam. The continuous pressure and trauma later cause Mariam to develop a 'split identity'. An identity where she wants to appear more beautiful than Marina. An identity named 'Camelia'. Camelia begins to take control of Mariam in an attempt to seek revenge for every wrongdoing Marina commits.

Directed by Eoon Shuhaini, Camelia leans on a strong ensemble — Diana Danielle, Ain Edruce, Saharul Ridzwan — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2019.
