










Willy Venter is the ultimate dreamer and has an unwavering belief in his ability as a contemporary film maker, however his lack of any talent is very obvious to all. When his investor for his dream project “The Panic Mechanic” suffers a fatal heart attack, Willy is left with the dilemma of shelving the project or finding a new investor. As luck would have it a “Hollywood” producer shows interest in the project, however the “Hollywood saviour” is not all he is cracked up to be. The behinds the scenes crew are on hand to document the making of the “Ultimate South African Film”.
Directed by Andrew Herold, The Dunning-Kruger Effect leans on a strong ensemble — Stephen van Niekerk, Russel Savadier, Jet Novuka — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2017.
