Welcome to Drumheller, Alberta: a small town smack dab in the middle of the Canadian Badlands where Jesus Christ, Tyrannosaurus Rex and 3000 bikers collide in steaming irony. Juxtaposing a summer production of The Passion Play, the world’s richest dinosaur graveyard and an annual Harley rally, THE CROSS AND BONES is an ironic exploration of this town through the eyes of locals and tourists who flock to this mythical landscape, to either worship a theatrical God, dig for giant skeletons or party hardy.
Directed by Paul Carrière, The Cross and Bones leans on a strong ensemble — D'Arcy Browning, Lance Loree, Washboard Hank — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about documentary titles of 2005.
