About Mizu tamari
The stage is Tokyo, a factory town in a downtown area. The young people who work at the bottom of society and one of them, the older sister of the people who work at the bottom of society, no matter how much they are trampled, are written to live a strong life. It is a film adaptation of two short stories of Fumio Niwa's "Water Pool" and "Insects in the Schoolyard."
Directed by Kazuo Inoue, Mizu tamari leans on a strong ensemble — Yūsuke Kawazu, Mariko Okada, Shinichirō Mikami — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1961.
