A college professor, Tim Donnelly, is caught in an affair with his daughter's roommate. He loses his job, his wife kicks him out, and he hits the road in despair. He finds himself in St. Jones' Ditch, a ghost town in deep East Texas that hasn't quite died, though the folks who end up there have a habit of doing just that. This is a place where people go to quit living. Tim takes his place amongst the odd denizens of the bar and the equally quirky residents, and decides whether or not his life is worth living. This is a dramedy with some naughty laughs and an ultimately redemptive arc.
Directed by Jeffrey Long, St. Jones Ditch leans on a strong ensemble — Christopher Barrow, Samantha Brennan, Robbie Brockmann — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2026.
