About B-Men no Natsu
A man (Kazama) whose lover was stolen by his best friend; a woman (Henmi) who fell in love with a man who didn’t return her feelings; and a woman (Ishibashi) who wants to be alone but can’t. The lives of these three people, each standing at a crossroads, gently intertwine in a town overlooking the sea. Since the original work is a collection of haiku by Madoka Mayuzumi, the screenplay connecting these stories was created from scratch. Despite its unique production and distribution model—intended as a promotional video for Meiji Life Insurance to distribute to its customers.
Directed by Koji Enokido, B-Men no Natsu leans on a strong ensemble — Toru Kazama, Maki Mochida, Emiri Henmi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1995.
