The story of a young man who is forced to provide a high bride price within a month as a condition to get married. Mail has been given one month to prepare the bride price of RM15,000 by Pak Mus in order to marry his daughter, Imah. Mail agrees without objection to accept the condition, but it clearly causes worry for his mother, Mak Munah, to prepare the stipulated bride price. How could they possibly prepare such an amount of money in such a short period. Mail then gets an idea and conspires with Sunti to become a female version of 'Mek Minyak' (an oily person) to frighten the villagers. The village becomes chaotic as many men have become victims of 'Mek Minyak'. Pak Mus as the Chairman of the Village Security and Development Committee directs an operation to be carried out to capture the oily person.
Directed by Amzad Amir, Mek Minyak leans on a strong ensemble — Izzue Islam, Sharifah Sakinah, Falisha Croosley — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2017.
