When the elderly owner of a luxury inn passes it is left to the staff instead of his two daughters. The staff make plans to sell the inn to a gang of yakuza. But the gang sees profit in the daughters as well and brutally conditions them for sale.
Directed by Shōgorō Nishimura, Dan Oniroku: Ikenie shimai leans on a strong ensemble — Minako Ogawa, Miyuki Matsumoto, Kaoru Mizuki — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1987.
