Einer spinnt immer

Master baker Haase travels to Vienna to see a notary regarding an inheritance. There, he meets Clarisse, who immediately wants to relieve him of the unexpected windfall. So she persuades Haase to travel to Venice, abandons him, and disappears with the last of the inheritance. Fearing the impending marital dispute, Haase feigns amnesia and ends up in a psychiatric institution.

Directed by Franz Antel, Einer spinnt immer leans on a strong ensemble — Georg Thomalla, Teri Tordai, Uwe Friedrichsen — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1971.
