Rosa, a working-class young woman, falls in love with the physician Armando de la Vega. After they spend a night together, she discovers that she is pregnant. Armando, however, marries another woman, and the couple leaves for Paris, where he remains for several years. Upon his return, disillusioned with his marriage, he meets the famous cabaret star Alma Rosa, not realizing that she is Rosa, now performing under a stage name.
Directed by Raúl de Anda, Una mujer decente leans on a strong ensemble — Elsa Aguirre, Rafael Baledón, Gloria Ríos — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1950.
