It's a couple of minutes before the first weird mustache appears and it took me twice that to recognize that bright eyed, lanky girl with the snub nose as Louise Fazenda.
Directed by Frank Griffin, Crossed Love and Swords leans on a strong ensemble — Louise Fazenda, Dave Morris, Al St. John — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1915.
