Suburban Districts

In the late 1920s Jewish girl Dora falls in love with a young Russian Komsomol member. His parents,who are captive to religious superstitions, don't like Dora. She still goes to live with him and will find herself facing those superstitions in her husband home too.

Directed by Hryhorii Hrycher, Suburban Districts leans on a strong ensemble — Nato Vachnadze, Rostislav Orlov, Ivan Yudin — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1930.
