About Le Maître qui laissait les enfants rêver
At the beginning of the 20th century, Célestin Freinet, the son of a farmer, had always dreamed of teaching. When, belatedly, he managed to land a teaching post, he found himself confronted by his pupils' lack of motivation. To get them interested in learning again, Célestin had the idea of abandoning traditional methods and turning his pupils into budding journalists.
Directed by Daniel Losset, Le Maître qui laissait les enfants rêver leans on a strong ensemble — Alexandre Thibault, Nina Gabalda, Robin Causse — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2007.
