
Three convicted criminals escape from prison carrying only a güiro, a tambor and an accordion. During their journey, they meet with a bunch of interesting characters and are forced to use their musical skills to help them get home.
Directed by Ángel Muñiz, Perico Ripiao leans on a strong ensemble — Raymond Pozo, Miguel Céspedes, Manolo Ozuna — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2003.
