York Koo becomes the family's acting boss, and must do what he can to handle the difficult situation, with mounting pressure from both the Hong Kong police, and rival families.
Directed by Hoh Cheuk-Wing, Hong Kong Godfather leans on a strong ensemble — Andy Lau, Yu Li, Roy Cheung Yiu-Yeung — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about thriller titles of 1991.
