About The Broken Pots
The film tells the story of a family that is on the verge of breaking up as a result of slander. Sabahat spends her days doing housework, taking care of her mischievous child, and dealing with her grumpy mother-in-law. Cemal, who returns home exhausted from work, struggles with Sabahat's complaints every night. Arguments between them become increasingly frequent. Mualla, their neighbor who has been in love with Cemal for years, takes advantage of this tense atmosphere. When Cemal kicks Sabahat out of the house after an argument, Mualla sees this as an opportunity to put her plan into action.
Directed by Memduh Ün, The Broken Pots leans on a strong ensemble — Lale Oraloğlu, Turgut Özatay, Rüya Gümüsata — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1961.
