About Day of the Ax
On May 8th, 1984 J.R. Sorg murdered his mother with an ax. For eight years, the boy remained at the Saint Catherian Mental State Hospital. In 1992, he escaped... killing several innocent people and raping several women in the process. The media dubbed the events "Day of the Ax". Despite a massive manhunt, six months later, nothing had been found and the hunt had been called off. However during the past three years, over and over again reports of bizarre and grisly ax murders have persisted all across the state.
Directed by Ryan Cavalline, Day of the Ax leans on a strong ensemble — Amy Liszka, Janet Robbins, Peter Blessel — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 2007.
