Night Spot

A young singer, Marge Dexter, becomes involved in trouble when she works in a nightclub in which two of the band-members are in reality undercover-police officers who believe that the club is the headquarters of a dangerous gang of crooks.

Directed by Christy Cabanne, Night Spot leans on a strong ensemble — Harry Parke, Allan Lane, Joan Woodbury — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1938.
