About The House of the Lost Dolls
A luxurious house stands in a deserted region, contrasting with its surroundings. It is a house of prostitution and its inmates are brought there against their will. One of them, Yvette, is helped to escape by Mr Gaston, a regular customer and she tells the story of her ordeal to the police.
Directed by Pierre Chevalier, Gian Paolo Callegari, The House of the Lost Dolls leans on a strong ensemble — Silvia Solar, Sandra Julien, Olivier Mathot — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about thriller titles of 1974.
