Karlheinz, a down-to-earth Berlin contractor, loudly rails against Polish illegal workers who he claims are snatching up all his jobs. Things aren’t looking good for his small company, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Out of necessity, he takes a low-paying job with a shady contractor. Unfortunately, it’s vacation season, so the single father has to hire a nanny for his young daughter. The charming Wanda, who is anything but a typical housewife, not only turns his family life upside down - there’s also a powerful spark between them.
Directed by Holger Haase, …und dann kam Wanda leans on a strong ensemble — Hannes Jaenicke, Adrian Topol, Wilfried Hochholdinger — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 2014.
