Lampenfieber

The early stage experiences of a group of young, more or less talented aspiring actors, whose first steps on the stage are described. Among them are schoolgirls such as the coquettish Evelyne, who believes she can do anything, and the modest Gitta, who demonstrates greater willingness and skill.

Directed by Kurt Hoffmann, Lampenfieber leans on a strong ensemble — Bernhard Wicki, Gustav Knuth, Elke Sommer — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1960.
