About Amir Arsalan-e Namdar
Roum was conquered by European invaders, and its pregnant Banu (lady) forced to flee for her life. She becomes wedded to an Egyptian merchant and gives birth to her child, Arsalan. The merchant claims the child as his own. Eventually, of course, Arsalan learns of his royal origins and takes it in his mind to reclaim his throne.
Directed by Esmail Koushan, Amir Arsalan-e Namdar leans on a strong ensemble — Mohamad Ali Fardin, Manouchehr Nozari, Jamshid Mehrdad — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1966.
