Zarifa The Dancing Bear

Zarife, a trained bear, and Imdat, her Gipsy master, earn their living on the streets by performing their traditional show. After getting caught and taken to the forest by the city police one day, Zarife's natural instincts start to awaken, making her restless to return home, back to the forests. But this also means a big trouble for Imdat, who relies on Zarife to perform his art as a bear-leader.

Directed by Nesli Çölgeçen, Zarifa The Dancing Bear leans on a strong ensemble — Şevket Altuğ, Üstün Asutay, Erkan Öztürk — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1990.
