About Initiation of a Married Woman
Simon and Babeth are seemingly happy couple, but she is not very interested in sex, while he is the opposite. He has sex with his secretary, his older downstairs neighbor, and friend Victoria, as well as other mistresses. But Babeth becomes suspicious and follows him to a hotel where he books a room to make love to one of his mistresses.
Directed by Claude Bernard-Aubert, Initiation of a Married Woman leans on a strong ensemble — Richard Lemieuvre, Cathy Ménard, Élisabeth Buré — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1983.
