About Peking Duck Restaurant
A fiction about the founder Mingquan Yang, and the early ages of Quanjude Restaurant, the most famous Peking duck restaurant. Yang bought the Dejuquan restaurant and changed the name to Quanjude according to a fortune teller, hired cooks from the Forbidden City, and invented a special recipe of roasted duck.
Directed by Gu Rong, Peking Duck Restaurant leans on a strong ensemble — Zhao Liang, Chen Baoguo, Xu Songzi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1990.
