At the beginning of the XVII century, events take place preceding the liberation struggle led by Bohdan Khmelnytsky. A young boy Pavlo Pokhylenko leaves his native Kaniv to join the Zaporizhian Sich (camp and cossack army) to fight for freedom and the Orthodox faith.
Directed by Serhiy Omelchuk, The Way to Sich leans on a strong ensemble — Vladimir Golubovich, Inna Kapinos, Mikhail Golubovich — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about adventure titles of 1994.
