Khulud

A love affair has linked Laila and Mahmoud since their childhood, but at the same time, Hassan, Mahmoud's cousin, falls in love with her, so jealousy and hatred begin to fill his heart towards Mahmoud. Fate wanted to bring Laila and Mahmoud's hearts together and complete their marriage. At their wedding, Hassan tries to kill Mahmoud, but Laila saves him and dies. Years pass and Mahmoud tries to get back what Hassan did to him.

Directed by Ezz Eldin Zulficar, Khulud leans on a strong ensemble — Faten Hamama, Ezz Eldin Zulficar, Kamal Al-Shenawy — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1948.
