Plane Grove

Valiasr Street, seventeen kilometers long, connects the south of Tehran to the north and the Alborz mountain range. When this street was built, the parties decorated it with more than 60,000 plane saplings. But today, only about eight thousand plane trees are standing on this street.

Directed by Hadi Afarideh, Plane Grove leans on a strong ensemble — Morteza Ahmadi, Kamran Adle, Ahad Nadalian — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about documentary titles of 2014.
