Two Worlds

The murder of an underworld figure, Takis Katridis, puts Martha, a young girl who was in love with him, as well as her father, craftsman Giannis, in the dock. Each one of them, separately, claims to be the guilty one, so that the other won’t go to prison.

Directed by Yiannis Filippou, Iason Novak, Two Worlds leans on a strong ensemble — Inta Hristinaki, Nikos Tzogias, Alekos Alexandrakis — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1949.
