About Crime em Nova Iorque
On January 8, 2011, journalist and social columnist Carlos Castro, 65, was found dead in a hotel room in New York City (USA). The killer, Renato Seabra, was a young model who had a love affair with him, admittedly in exchange for favors. In December 2012, after confessing to the crime, Renato Seabra was sentenced to between 25 years in jail and life in prison. Using this case as a starting point, director Rui Filipe Torres builds a story about obsession and power between António and Rodrigo.
Directed by Rui Filipe Torres, Crime em Nova Iorque leans on a strong ensemble — João D'Ávila, Ruben Garcia, Marina Albuquerque — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2015.
