The Nest of Wasps

In 1936, a time when Bucharest was known as the "Paris of the East", the three Duduleanu sisters, from a family of prosperous merchants, rule their clan with an iron fist. Young journalist Mircea Aldea joins the clan by marrying their daughter, but the union is short-lived.

Directed by Horea Popescu, The Nest of Wasps leans on a strong ensemble — Tamara Buciuceanu-Botez, Coca Andronescu, Ovidiu Iuliu Moldovan — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1987.
