The dream of writing seems to come true for trained pharmacist Kim Garben when she is commissioned to write a heartbreak story as a serialized novel for a newspaper. However, Kim, who has been sorely disappointed by men, finds it difficult to write a love story of all things. But then comes the saving idea: she simply hooks up with her lovesick neighbor Ludger, who has just been dumped by his girlfriend.

Directed by Markus Bräutigam, Flitterwochen im Treppenhaus leans on a strong ensemble — Susanna Simon, Steffen Wink, Doreen Jacobi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2002.
