Yukie, Koichi and Akira are rogues looking for a place to crash. They move into a house which Etsuko (Kaori Momoi) inherited from her parents. Soon after getting settled, the hippies slip into a communal lifestyle. They eat, have sex, and generally share everything together.
Directed by Toshiya Fujita, Sweet Scent of Eros leans on a strong ensemble — Choei Takahashi, Hiroko Isayama, Kaori Momoi — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1973.
