About A Child for Sale
Charles Stoddard is a poor artist living with his wife and two children in Greenwich Village. Destitute after his wife dies, he is forced to sell one of his children to a childless rich woman. He soon comes his senses however, and tries to back out of the deal.
Directed by Ivan Abramson, A Child for Sale leans on a strong ensemble — Creighton Hale, Gladys Leslie, Bobby Connelly — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1920.
