Hwa-soon comes to Seoul in search of the whereabouts of her fiance, Man-seok, who has not heard from her for 7 years. After many twists and turns, she meets Man-seok, who becomes a restaurant truck driver, but Man-seok hates Hwa-sun. Still, Hwa-sun does not leave her surroundings, and in the end, Man-seok also returns to her Hwa-sun. Man-seok buys her truck, decorates a mobile department store, and starts her business. On a snowy winter day, she clears an obstacle from a sloping road and rolls over to a cliff. Hwa-sun lays her bloody Man-seok next to her and grabs the steering wheel of the truck. Hwa-sun howls and accelerates, but Man-seok finally closes her eyes.
Directed by Lee Sang-eon, Hwa-suni leans on a strong ensemble — Kim Soo-mi, Baek Il-seob, Kim Ji-young — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1982.
