Red Boogie

Comedy about a group of musicians who are sent to play to villagers and workers to raise morale during a 5 year plan. The trouble is they prefer to play jazz and boogie music to the traditional folk songs, and each time they try their jazz they are reprimanded by the local party secretary.

Directed by Karpo Aćimović Godina, Red Boogie leans on a strong ensemble — Ivo Ban, Boris Cavazza, Jožef Ropoša — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1982.
