About The Women
Two women share a room in a hospital. One has just given birth to a stillborn child, the other has had her ovaries removed. Bonding over their trauma, past and present, both women in turn taking care of the other, they become friends and try to help each other upon leaving the hospital.
Directed by Per Blom, The Women leans on a strong ensemble — Bente Børsum, Anna Godenius, Veslemøy Haslund — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1979.
