About Puto
A puto vendor had been selling cakes everyday after school to help his widowed mother. That was why all the kids in school had been calling him Puto. Puto was the constant butt of jokes but he remained good-natured helpful and kind to everybody. Taking pity on him a dwarf decided to give him special powers. This gave Puto the chance to realize his dream of winning the track and field race.
Directed by Leroy Salvador, Puto leans on a strong ensemble — Herbert Bautista, Marita Zobel, Janno Gibbs — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 1987.
