
1969-“Estirpe”, was the first Spanish graphic novel by a troubled youngster under a pseudonym. He mysteriously disappeared after that. 44 years later, a production company that wanted to adapt it to the big screen hired María, a young lawyer to find the author and get the rights from him.
Directed by Adrián López, Estirpe leans on a strong ensemble — Nacho Aldeguer, Silvia Alonso, Javier Botet — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about science fiction titles of 2016.
