About The Ballad of Love
Friends Giorgi, Temo, and Sandro go to the airport to see off their childhood friend Keta, who has worked at an American university for 10 years. They plan to show her Batumi, but she heads to Kakheti for an archaeological dig with American archaeologist Mitch and many student girls. The boys follow, competing to “match” with the girls. Giorgi soon stops, as childhood love with Keta rekindles, though she also loves Mitch, who came to Georgia for her.
Directed by Irakli Kakabadze, The Ballad of Love leans on a strong ensemble — Ruska Makashvili, Bacho Kajaia, Nodar Gurgenashvili — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2011.
